HEROES IN MYTHS, IN ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS AND IN MODERN LIFE.

INTRODUCTION.

Greek heroes like Hercules and Perseus inspire many lives. Thor and the great Nordics gods too. The myths of heroes and gods have a magical touch that make us love them mover and mover. Heroes are everywhere in ancient civilizations and nowadays we have the modern super-heroes to entertain us.  Actually modern super-heroes come from the idea of ancient heroes and gods from mythology.

Heroes inspire our life. We always need someone to trust, someone who is an example for us. We love heroes and heroines too. Life without them could be really meaningless.
Heroes from our ancient past inspired many generations. Their deeds were told everywhere and when time passes by they became myths. It does not mean they did not exist. It means their life was left to us as mythological. Why? Simple, the art of decoding the great realities is written in symbols. It is never told in a mere profane language.

All ancient cultures had a great knowledge or wisdom for the high hierarchies and priests.  Regular people had not the knowledge to understand real wisdom. It had always been that way.

Hercules, Perseus, Thor, Quetzalcoatl, etc. existed. They are not mere myths, but their deeds were written in symbols and they became myths.

One example: Buddha. It is said when he was born he talked and explain what he was coming for. Moreover, he gave seven steps and from each step lotus flowers came out from the ground. How can we take that in a literal way? There is no way I could believe that happen as it was written. Nevertheless, I do not say it is a lie. I say it is written in a symbolic way. The “talking” represents the higher level of consciousness that being had. In ancient times, the power of talking was a symbol of intelligence and power. Those seven steps represent the seven chakras, which he had worked in past lives and he is bringing to this new life to become THE BUDDHA, THE AWAKEN ONE!

Now let’s talk about some heroes from different cultures, from those great civilizations.

THE MIGHTY HERCULES:
No, he was not a body builder. That strength represents a spiritual strength and not a physical one.  Nature has one law: THE STRONGEST SURVIVE! The spiritual path is a natural path and therefore it has the same law.

Every prophet or avatar came to tell us we are going in the wrong direction and we must change. All of them said it was not easy to change, but it was not other path. The path is not for believers or for skeptics, but both can start the path. Those who are able to go beyond the limits of the mind, beyond any believe and skepticism, can reach the other shore as Buddha taught!

Those great warriors who fight against themselves become all mighty. They have to conquer their selfishness and become love and compassion.

They have to fight the lion of the law as Hercules did and Samson, according to the Bible. That big cat was the symbol of the law in ancient traditions. Hercules wears the skin of the lion after he defeated it. We need to wear the clothing of the law and it means we need to pay to the law our debts in order to be in peace with the law. Otherwise, the law will be the strongest obstacle for the spiritual development. Therefore, the path starts when we learn to help other beings, when we spread the philosophy of the heart, not just by talking, but by doing it in our daily life.

I know, it is not understood easily. Nevertheless, whoever wants happiness must look for the happiness of other beings. Why? Because the law is simple: YOU GET WHAT YOU GIVE!

Please, check GREEK HEROES AND GODS (Link on the bottom) for more about Hercules and the twelve labours.

THOR AND THE POWER OF THE THUNDER!

Thor was the son of Odin as Hercules was the son of Zeus. Hercules had a club or stick as his powerful tool, Thor had the hammer. Both tools represent the mighty power they got to defeat their enemies.

What is the thunder? Was not that the power of Zeus? Remember: Odin have Thor that hammer.

Every single person has great energies. The problem is: We cannot use them and we do not need them to survive on this planet.

The Kundalini is the most important and strongest energy within the human body. This life full of stress and worries destroys the inner capacities because this so called modern life is anything but natural. The Kundalini is that thunder, that mighty tool of the ancient heroes. Without it they cannot be heroes and they would not be able to defeat their enemies.

Thor is sent to the Earth in order to help human beings from the evil power of his brother. This is the ancient tale told in every single culture.

MORE ABOUT THOR? Check links on the bottom.

THE FIGHT AGAINST MONSTERS, DRAGONS, ETC.

Those terrible monsters and evil creatures of the ancient tales are great symbols of the inner negative forces trapped within our own psyche.

Remember: Buddha did not fight an exterior enemy, but an interior enemy.
We are in the XXI century and there is too obsolete to think about a devil that is outside looking for people to put them into temptation.  Mara, in Buddhism, is the mind.
The main problem of human kind is the mind. Our mid creates problems, sadness, depression… Nobody can be happy when being slave of the mind. The human mind has many negative aspects that we need to control and defeat. The real monsters or what make a person a monster is his/her own thoughts.

We need a real change in our thoughts, emotions and habits. How can we do that if we cannot control our mind? That is the reason why a person needs to learn how to focus and reach enlightenment.

Those dragons, monsters, etc are symbols of the negative thoughts and/or emotions that we carry all over. Whoever we go there is the problem. Happiness will come to the pure heart person when that person defeats himself and then he will become a hero!

THE REAL HERO IS THE ONE WHO DEFEATS HIMSELF/HERSELF!

A REAL HERO HAS A GREAT HEART FULL OF LOVE AND COMPASSION: YOGA AND THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE HEART!

PERSEUS, THE GREAT HERO!

He is the legendary hero who beheaded the Medusa. Yes, the woman whose beauty made her feel prettier then the goddesses. She was punished to have snakes instead of hair and to have a serpent’s tail.

Perseus was the son of Zeus. He got special tools from the gods: A shield, a sword, a helmet and an owl. He could not do his tasks without those great tools.

We all need great tools to succeed in life, to make our dreams a real deal. Those dreams can be small or big, they can be material or spiritual; but the matter is to fulfill them.
Remember: PERSEUS' GOAL WAS NOT THE MEDUSA. THE KRAKEN WAS NOT THE MAIN THING. HE RISKED HIS LIFE FOR ANDROMEDA, HIS LOVE!
He had to defeat the Medusa to defeat the Kraken. They are symbols of things we need to defeat in order to get what we love, or who we love.

Those special tools are capacities that we need to develop. The sword represents the ability to fight, the helmet is intelligence, the shield is the control of emotions, and the owl is our guide: The real belonging to achieve what we want or to conquer what we love or who we love.

Well, there is a more deep meaning, but this is enough. WE MOST FIGHT FOR OUR DREAMS TO COME TRUE! Do not expect an easy fight, but you must not be an easy or week warrior.

MODERN SUPERHEROES:

YES! There are modern heroes. Well, I am not talking about Marvel Superheroes or any superhero that we can watch in now days TV. I love them though. They came out from fantasies or imitations of the ancient mythical heroes. They talk about saving the “PHYSICAL” world or saving lives; which is good. Nevertheless, the mythical heroes had another background and another goal.

The roll of a myth is to teach a lesson, the roll of a modern Superhero is to entertain.
Myths are allegories of something that might have happened. A mythical hero is a person who might have existed. The matter is not if they existed or not, but the meaning of the myth is important. We can get a lesson or advise for our own life.

SOME OF MODERN SUPERHEROES PROMOTE VIOLENCE, HATRED AND REVENGE. ANCIENT MYTHICAL HEROES DID NOT. Some people might disagree and say they did. But, I have to say this: That opinion comes from a modern point of view and without understanding ancient wisdom. I just say what I believe and that is the point of this blog. We all are free to believe in whatever we believe.

THE KUNDALINI AND THE SPIRITUAL SUN.

We all, for sure, had a favorite superhero. We dream, of being him/her. We all would love to have super-powers, but… Is it all?

Being different, being unique has a price and when it comes out from a capability then there is a responsibility. Having power is not easy because it requires self-control and love for the human kind. The power becomes destructive when the person is lack of that control and has not love.

That is why all ancient texts point out the need of self-control, the need of love and/or service to develop the inner capabilities such as the KUNDALINI.

The Kundalini, according India’s ancient wisdom, is the strongest power within any human being. The Kundalini is depicted, by the yogis, as a SERPENT OF FIRE and it was called THE XICOATL by the Aztecs. Please check the article: THE MEANING OF THE SERPENT.

It is known that the Kundlini is a special energy which can travel from the Muladhara Chakra (it is on the bottom of the Spinal) to the Crown Chakra (Top of the head). It develops each Chakra when it passes by them.

The Kundalini, the Xicoatl, the great serpent of the ancient mysteries was worshiped in every single civilization. All the different similarities among the cultures are telling us they had a common source. That common source was THE SUN. No, I did not mean the physical sun. I meant the Spiritual Sun or the Soul of the physical sun. That Spiritual sun was worshiped all around the planet. That Spiritual Sun is represented in every single sun in the whole universe. It is an intelligent force which created everything we see and beyond. Please check this article: INTI – THE GOLDENSUN OF THE INCAS.

The power of that Spiritual Sun is within us, it is the Kundalini. That power is depicted as a serpent because it is energy and it travels making waves like the snake does.

Those who understood the ancient wisdom, those who had the great knowledge (lost in time) became real heroes and their deeds were written in a mythical way, not in a literal way. In other words, Perseus never met a physical Medusa, but an inner Medusa. It represents the inner contradictions, traumas, weakness, etc.

Buddha, for example, did not fight external demons, but inner demons. Mara was not an outsider, but his own mind. Buddhism teaches us to study our own mind to acquire freedom, enlightenment, happiness, etc.

The Mayas used the Ball Game to teach the need to be beheaded. Why? because the problem is our mind. For more about the Ball Game of the Mayas check the article: HUMAN SACRIFICES.

The Greek philosophy tells us about self-knowledge. We do not know what is in our mind. We are not aware of our own thoughts. We do not even know why we are alive. We do not have a clue about the reason of this universe. We pretend to be very smart, but we are in darkness.

THE ANCIENT HEROES WERE THOSE WHO UNDERSTOOD THEMSELVES. THE ANCIENT HEROES WERE MORE THAN MERE LEGENDS OR MYTHS. THOSE GREAT ANCIENT HEROES WERE ABLE TO DEVELOP THE KUNDALINI AND THAT IS THE REASON WHY THEY WEE CALLED THE SON OF THE SUN (The Spiritual Sun).

Now we understand why, the Greeks, called them the sons of Zeus. Yes, I know Zeus was not the Sun, but Apollo. Nevertheless, the main god in every single civilization was the representation of that Spiritual Sun.

GLORY TO THOSE WHO IN THE BATTLE AGAINST THEIR WEAKNESS DEFEATED THEIR OWN MIND AND BECAME REAL HEROES.
